FEDERATION SCHOOLS COME TOGETHER FOR FIRST VIRTUAL CAROL CONCERT
From Reception to Sixth Form, pupils, staff, parents, carers, families and friends came together for our first Virtual Carol Service to kick off our Christmas celebrations on Tuesday 1st December at 2pm.
A joyful and uplifting service, all the performances showcased the diverse communities of each of our schools and celebrated Christmas songs, readings, prayers and art from around the world.
Pieces performed by individual schools included the rhythmic ‘Bolingo’ from the Republic of Congo and sung in the Lingala language, to ‘Gaudete’, a 16th century medieval sacred carol in Latin and the oldest piece in the performance, to the more well-known Christmas Carols such as the Spanish ‘Feliz Navidad’. As well as school performances, our pupils honoured the congregational carols wonderfully.
Whilst this was a different carol service to what we’re used to, all our schools proudly came together and put all their efforts into making this year’s virtual event one to remember.
As well as our musical performances, pupils entered some impressive art submissions in our Christmas Art Competition. Winning entries will be used to create virtual Christmas cards for Federation to send. Take a look at the art submissions in the video below.
Our heartfelt thanks to all involved from our choirs, musicians, music teachers and many more. This year, we are raising money for the charities shown below. Donations from our communities, families and friends are very welcome and hugely appreciated. Details can be found below.

Robes Project is a homeless shelter in London. This charity is supported by Southwark Cathedral. Since 2007 Robes has operated across Southwark and Lambeth to provide shelter for people who find themselves homeless in London. Robes also supports people with vital welfare advice, enabling them to access services and accommodation. With the support of over 30 Church venues and over 1000 volunteers, Robes continues to go from strength to strength . |
Brain Tumour Research is an ambitious charity, passionate about finding a cure for brain tumours through the establishment of dedicated Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence around the UK and challenging the Government and larger cancer charities to increase the national investment for research into brain tumours to £35 million a year and bring parity with other cancers.
Emma Bugg, a pupil at Crayford Academy suffered considerably with a brain tumour and was supported by the charity. Please do donate if you would like to help people like Emma, her family and other families who have suffered from brain tumours. |
