Autumn Term, 2020

Welcome to the Autumn Term of home learning activities.

In German this term, we are working on greetings and have started learning the names of fruits and vegetables. See the German section below for a song to sing at home. You can also find weekly additional activities for Phonics, Writing and Maths below.

To support your child with reading at home, use your personal logins to access a wide range of digital books and activities at Reading Eggs. Click here to find the website.

Half Term optional activities

If you would like, you can make a start on one of the following projects over the half term break. Once it is finished, you can bring it in for a show and tell to the class over the course of the next 6 weeks in school.

  • Shoebox Season Scene: find a shoebox, pick a season and make a scene (you could even use real leaves and conkers)!
  • Family Tree: find out a bit about your family tree and make a poster!
  • Make your own 100 square: cut out small squares and make and decorate your own 100 square - you could bring this in and use it in class.
  • Write a diary of your half term to share with your classmates.

Don't forget to keep in touch!

ENGLISH

 Friday, 23rd October, 2020

Watch the video to help you with the or, ur and oo phonetic sounds.

See if you can identify words with these sounds in and use the words in a sentence. Any additional writing practice is always useful and when writing words with these sounds, children often forget the letter combination.

MATHS

Friday, 23rd October, 2020

In Maths this week, we have been discussing how numbers are 'greater than, less than and equal to'. We have used these symbols to help with this: < > =

If you're able to print, click here for an activity to identify whether numbers are greater or less than.

For a copy of the number line to 50 that went home in bookbags can be found here.

GERMAN

We have been singing this song in German lessons. Have a go at home!

HISTORY

In history this term, the children have been learning about the lives of Mary Seacole and Rosa Parks. We watched some clips here to learn about the life of Mary Seacole and learned about why she was significant. We even learned the word 'tenacious'!

The children have also enjoyed watching a short film here about the impact of Rosa Park's bus protest.
